The short answer

The average US residential electricity rate was 18.0¢/kWh in October 2025, down 0.6% from September and up 5.1% from October 2024. Louisiana had the cheapest electricity (12.4¢) and Hawaii the most expensive (39.7¢), while Rhode Island saw the biggest monthly increase (+10.1%).
