The short answer

The average US residential electricity rate was 17.5¢/kWh in June 2025, up 0.6% from May and up 6.7% from June 2024. Idaho had the cheapest electricity (12.1¢) and Hawaii the most expensive (41.0¢), while Missouri saw the biggest monthly increase (+22.3%).
